Palo Santo’s medicinal + spiritual uses: Palo Santo or "Holy Wood" has been used for thousands of years by indigenous people of South America. Palo Santo incense wood has to die of natural causes and lay on the jungle floor for years before it gets its signature smell and its potent healing medicinal qualities, making it a sustainable product when received from proper sources. The tree (or branches) must sit for roughly 5 years to ensure the plant’s most potent medicinal properties and aromas.

Bulnesia sarmientoi is different type of “Palo Santo” species that is very endangered and comes from Argentina, Paraguay, Brazil, and Bolivia they are entirely different species, look different, and have different uses and properties than Bursera graveolens (which is what we carry). We encourage everyone to know their sources if buying anything labeled “palo santo”.
